Family Literacy Day
The Reading Council of Greater Winnipeg celebrates Family Literacy Day every January. Babies born at St. Boniface General Hospital and Health Sciences Women’s Hospital on Family Literacy Day were presented with an inscribed copy of Robert Munsch’s Love You Forever.
Each book contained a bookplate and cover letter to baby and parents explaining the reason for the gift book as well as an encouragement to make reading a daily family habit. Both English and French copies of the books were purchased and hospital staff distributed the books to new moms. We continue to receive positive feedback from staff regarding this initiative.
